John T. Logan

John graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1977 and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Oregon State University in 1983.  After passing the CPA exam and working for six years in KPMG Peat Marwick’s Audit department, John joined his Mom, Avis, at Logan General Tax Practice in 1989.  Avis Logan had previously worked for the IRS and was an Enrolled Agent when she started the tax-preparation business in 1983.

Avis retired in 1999 and John has been the Managing Partner since.  He is very active in the community and routinely gives seminars on personal taxation.  John has been an adjunct instructor at the University of Alaska Southeast teaching individual income tax.  He has served, and continues to serve, on several local non-profit boards.

2013 marked our firm’s 30th year serving Southeast Alaska.  We now serve clients all over Alaska, the lower 48, and around the world.  We have a well-established client base, with many of our clients being second-generation as their families have been with us since Avis started the firm.

John is married with three grown daughters and enjoys boating, fishing, camping, skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling.


Victoria E. Scharen

Victoria has been with the company since May 2004 and has advanced from reception to tax prepaprer in addition to being the office manager.

She is Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor® since 2008 in Desktop, Online & Enterprise Solutions. 

She prepares all types of tax returns for our clients. She prepares payroll, does bookkeeping and account reconciliation for many of our clients.   

She is a lifelong Alaskan born in Kodiak and moving only briefly while her dad was in the Coast Guard until retiring to Juneau in 1980. She is a widow to David, and together raised seven kids. She now is raising the youngest on her own and is a proud grandmother of 3. She is a devoted parent being involved in many activities for their children but is also foster a parent opening her home up to more children for over 11 years.  

She also owns her own clothing business with her daughters so any spare time is spent playing with the kids.

Victoria is also the Youth Litter Patrol Coordinator for Litter Free Inc.
